(1,474 posts)Apartheid has always fascinated me. Reminiscent of America. Denzel was great as Steve Biko.

(1,474 posts)I would not suggest any do not belong there. Perhaps just he did more than 10 great movies!
red dog 1
(27,845 posts)and he certainly did more than 10 great movies

(17,319 posts)However the one that ends in a fight in an empty Home Depot/Lowes was pretty exciting.

(182,876 posts)Having known several alcoholics they told me it was the most powerful thing they'd ever seen. One actually quit because of that movie.

(3,148 posts)Since you asked for a favorite movie and not a favorite role. I had to go with Courage Under Fire. Many of the films you listed in the poll are great but this was an all-around work of art.
I'm a sucker for an unreliable narrator story. Which is why I loved how the stories of each soldier were pretty much the same but the little details mattered. Totally made the difference in deciding if Meg Ryan's character was a hero, coward or something in between.
It was also one of the first films I think of that really tackled what soldiers family go through when a loved one comes back but is damaged by their experiences.

Bleacher Creature
(11,257 posts)I'm not suggesting that he go full Robert DeNiro and accept whatever garbage script that pays the bills (seriously, Showtime? Little Fockers?), but something lighter would be nice.
In any event, count me in for Glory and Philadelphia.

(27,845 posts)and I loved "Meet the Parents" and "Meet the Fockers" as much as any of the great dramas DeNiro has done, including "Raging Bull"..which was possibly his best film.
(I'm not sure Denzel Washington WANTS to do a comedy)
