Snowballs--Divinity fudge by another name?

Today at a 12-step group meeting a woman from Boston brought a treat I identified as Divinity Fudge. She said they were called Snowballs.

I'd never heard of them. I thought Divinity Fudge was a Southern thang (sic).

What say you? They were to die for.

1. Snowballs are round cookies

made with chopped nuts (pecans) and covered with powdered sugar. We make them every Christmas. Divinity is a yucky sweet candy.

4. Yep, I make them every Christmas as well. But call them Russian Tea Cakes.

5. I have a recipe that I got from the cardboard container that holds 4 sticks

of margarine.

The name of the cookies are Eatmore Goodie Cookies.

The recipe is from 1964.

The recipe calls for nuts.

We used home grown, fresh cracked walnuts.

They are truly ADDICTIVE !!!

9. Divinity is made with meringue.

My mom made it every Xmas. When done right the walnuts temper the sweetness of the other ingredients.

My mother used walnuts - which I think was personal twist. I see many recipes use pecans. They don't know what they're missing.
