(204,779 posts)I probably saw The Beach Boys in concert more often than anyone else because my brother was a big fan and I used to go with him back in the day. And wasn't the actor who played young Brian just great?! I thought he was the best thing about the movie, did an amazing job capturing Brian's performances. Brian's story is a tough one, but I thought the movie was very well done and I gave my brother a copy of the video.

(16,850 posts)Was exceptional. It was just so intense watching the portrayal of mental illness....its one of the first movies Ive seen where it felt like the viewer was actually in the head of the main character, not merely a passive observer.
As an aside, I watched an interview with Brian and Melinda and her only critique of the movie was that Dr Landy wasnt portrayed as awful as he really was!!! Damn, Giamatti was incredible and to think the real life Landy was worse, thats just mind blowing!

(204,779 posts)Was not only did he resemble a young Brian Wilson, but he did an amazing job with the music! He really is multi talented!
And it was a very intense movie - I wasn't sure what to expect, but I thought it was very well done. It's been awhile since I saw it, I should probably borrow it from my brother!
And Paul Giamatti was the scum of the earth! I can't imagine anyone being that unscrupulous! I'll have to watch it again with that in mind...
Good to see you, too!
