(113,921 posts)I first got hooked when I caught the scent of fresh hot nutella crepes on the streets of Paris years ago. If I hadn't been walking everywhere for hours at a time, I'd have come home fifty pounds heavier.
Once home, I sought this creamy goo like a heroin addict seeks their own choice of "drug." And, lo and behold, I found it and spent weeks wanting to eat nothing else!
Finally, fear of the Dentist (the other Satan) kicked in, and I managed to break its evil hold on me. But, then the devil got a foothold in Costco, where the very large sizes of Nutella are sold in duo sets for an incredibly low price.
Heaven help me!

(6,581 posts)In my opinion, their recent campaign to promote their product as a healthy breakfast food for children is irresponsible.
It's not the worst thing in the world, nutritionally, but it's certainly not the best, either.
I don't think that slathering what is essentially the semi-liquid center of a candy bar onto a piece of toast constitutes a proper breakfast for a child, nor an adult for that matter. Just my opinion.

... and, although it was OK... it was just OK.

It didn't live up to all the hype I had heard about it.
.
Although the combo of the cupcake, Nutella AND the
Ferraro Rocher(sp?) chocolate on top DID make me
go HMMMMM.

I got a coupla Toblerone chocolate bars last week
(still have one). They're not GREAT either, but they're
pretty good and they were down from $2.29 to a buck.

With the segmenting of the Toblerone bars, sometimes they
actually last me a full week.

It's like premium ice cream/sorbet. I stand at the freezer
with a teaspoon and a pint will actually BE four servings
lasting for days.

I take that same pint to the table or couch -- I'm scraping
the bottom within minutes.

(4,833 posts)But I lived in Europe long enough to acquire a taste for Nutella and for Ferrero Rocher. Using a cupcake to combine the two is sort of like gilding the lily, but still, sounds OK to me . . . .

(4,833 posts)I have also used it as a dip of sorts for pretzels. I used to know someone who stuffed celery with it, but I never quite acquired a taste for that particular combination.
