BUT, most choices are from unknown authors and not best sellers. I quit it recently.

To see if they do ebook loans. I get books from the library all the time (both ebooks and audio books)

My only problem is that I can't really get through the books fast enough to finish during the checkout period (2 or 3 weeks depending on the library) but that says more about me than it does about the usefulness of the borrowing. If that is a problem, then unlimited would not be viable either because it wouldn't pay for itself.

They use Overdrive which can send the ebooks to your Kindle. They also use Hoopla but I am not certain whether that uses Kindle or has its own app for reading.

Many of them have apps where you can borrow ebooks and audiobooks from their system. When the loan expires the file is deleted. No fines.

Mine has one called 'Overdrive"

Only downside is sometimes you have to place a hold on items. Hot items usually have waiting lists.

Sign up for an ecard (electronic library card). You sometimes have to wait for a book to come available, but... it's free. The loans are for 21 days. You can get the Overdrive app which is used in connection with the library. Well worth it.

I'm aware that libraries, etc have eBooks.

I'm looking for opinions from folks who have tried 'Amazon's Kindle Unlimited'.

There’s an author that I’m rolling thru all her stuff, so I’ve really gotten my money’s worth. I haven’t explored past that, fwiw.
