Johhny Depp is always a hoot.

(12,132 posts)And I never even watched the original. I've heard about it but never saw more than a short clip.
The previews look funny to me.

(29,098 posts)It looks like heresy to me. Dark Shadows was dark and shadowie....Not all bright and cartoonie. Looks wrong to me....and it's not suppose to be overtly comedic.
I have a bad bad feeling about it based on the commercial I saw.

(16,327 posts)I certainly hope that is the case -- the Depp/Burton team is wearing on my nerves these days.

what made it camp. "I wonder who is at the door?" (Doorbell finally rings.)
I don't see how this movie could capitalize on that, although I love Johnny enough to maybe give it a whirl.

(12,723 posts)Can anyone remember the last time a movie was made from a tv show that was not a spoof?

(12,723 posts)and as for the last two I am talking more the revival shows as opposed to the same cast.
So SWAT and Star Trek would be the most recent.
Oh and I do not consider any of those films with the word Mission in them to be anything other than the Tom Cruise spy show. They are not even close to what the real thing was.

I can't help it if you decided to redefine the parameters after I responded!

(95,337 posts)Burton finds book or play or movie that has a kooky lead male role and a bunch of interesting characters where Helena Bonham Carter plays one of the crazier women in the movie.
I guess it started with Edward Scissorhands although that was before Burton was dating HBC. But then there was "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", "Alice in Wonderland", and "Sweeney Todd"
I think only "Sleepy Hollow" was Depp allowed to be Depp.
I think Depp is a very talented actor but he needs to get out of these kooky charcacters he's been playing and show us why he's such a talent
