Women's and men's. I think they are doing okay.

I had to avoid online forums for two weeks because of all the people who spoil results. And I still have 30 curling games taped on DVR and yet to watch. But overall the curling competition was fantastic. The men's played true to form -- at least with the final four teams that advanced -- but the women's competition had the single greatest upset of the Games with Canada and Rachel Homan finishing with a losing record.

That team was considered a possibility to go unbeaten, just like last year at world championships and following fellow Canadian Jennifer Jones running the table unbeaten in the 2014 Sochi Games.

Homan not only faltered badly but she stained her reputation by desperately removing a barely-touched burnt rock from the house against hapless Denmark. Nobody does that. It will dog her the rest of her career. Nobody in the Olympics changed their image for the worse like Rachel Homan did. Plus she did it in an unlikable fashion with no sense that she understood the big picture.

The odds of Shuster winning gold simultaneous with Homan finishing with a losing record would have been in the 500/1 range.

Shuster's team was a betting underdog in each of the final 5 games yet swept them all. I was very happy Shuster was able to avoid Switzerland in the playoffs. That young guy Benoit Schwartz who shoots fourth for Switzerland is incredibly clever on draws and defeated Shuster twice handily last year in the world championships, including with the bronze medal on the line.
