The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI know Facebook isn't real popular here, but I'm on to check people that I follow,
to keep tabs on them, I'm "on" but don't participate......anyway, it seems there is something going on with it.....when I type in someone's name I wish to see topics come up that I don't care to see, like news feeds, etc, it's not the normal page I'm used to seeing when I get on. Anyone else know of problems?? thanks.

(34,195 posts)I use FB to keep in touch with friends and family.
I don't read the ads or news there.
People who hate it want to take it away from everyone?

(5,914 posts)The people whom I really care about in this world know where I am and how to find me, and I know how to reach out to them.
Facebook apologists remind me of those people who can't stand Rush Limbaugh, but they listen every day to "keep tabs on the opposition", and they repost his bullshit everywhere they possibly can.

(1,909 posts)measures only QUANTITY of friends, and not quality. I probably have only about 4 or 5 really good friends. But wouldn't that look pathetic on facebook where its keeping score re: the number of my friends.
Its that word "follower." Must be the 60s flower child in me - just cant see declaring myself a devotee or disciple of anyone.
I don't want to take it away from anyone, but just would like it if some users would stop being so totally immersed in it and venture OUT of it once in a while. Like when people who take photos at family gatherings declaring themselves to be the official photographer don't then share with anyone else except their FB "friends" . This in spite of repeated appeals - please email the photos like you said you would!!!!! Some of the older folks don't even have a computer, let alone being on facebook.

(5,914 posts)Sure, Mom, I would like to see those pics you took of your grandkids at Joey's birthday party, but I don't want to have to wade through pages and pages of other people's yard apes that I frankly don't give a shit about.

(17,055 posts)I only friend actual family & actual friends. If any nonsense pops up in my feed I block that site. I have no complaints because the cure is simple & I still get to keep in touch with the people I want to keep in touch with. I do follow some sites that I like such as Dan Rather's News and Guts, etc. I just don't get why people have so many problems when the control of their FB page is in their control.
Am I missing something?
