I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, but there are some pretty intense scenes. My wife didnt care for it but shes not much of a sci-fi fan either.

But is a great, genre busting film. To call it Sci-Fi is a bit misleading.
Three of the main characters are from marginalized groups. Two women (one black, the other deaf-mute), and a gay man.
There are political undertones, and some thrilling moments, as well as romance, humor, and even a dance sequence. Great writing, great performances. It deserves its R rating.
I found the ending quite satisfying, unlike films such as No Country For Old Men.
It's a truly great film.
