I miss so many things about Houston. Food, culture, diversity of people and ideas and activities. In a right wing small town now and it stinks in many ways. There are some nice people, all Dems, of course.

Will your flowers last through the snow? Just remember to make fun of me when it hits 100+ for a week.

I think their blooms lasted a day. All I saw were leaves with blasted off blooms.

Blue bonnets out in full force - San Antonio.

There is a small medical clinic with a small adjacent vacant lot. The owner probably seeds it, because the vacant lot is beautiful and perfect for photo-ops.

It will be a good weekend to go south and look for big swaths of them to photograph.

My favorite is when the Indian Paintbrush and the Indian Blankets pop up about 2 weeks into the bluebonnet period.

Bluebonnets actually have a long bloom show. Usually the fields look pretty good for 3 weeks or so

There are huge patches up around DFW airport on the big freeway which runs up the middle.

When the landscapers come in after a new road is built, wildflowers are mixed in with the grass. As a general rule, the grass isn't cut until the flowers have dropped their seeds. This year's bluebonnets are growing from the seeds dropped in 2016. Other flowers are annuals.

Long ago, I remember my mom fighting the highway department about cutting the roadsides too soon for the seeds to set. Lady Bird got involved and we had planting and no cutting. LB's legacy and the work of others like her lives on.
