I just heard on the news that gas prices are the highest they've been in 3 years. In my area it's $2.50/gal and I know it's much higher elsewhere.

(24,618 posts)$2.59 to $2.49. A deplorable was saying that gas is the lowest it's been in years, therefore drumpf is a genius.

(9,605 posts)Five years ago, when the price of gas was going up, ladies at the pool clucked and blamed Obama. Later, when the price came down and went down further, they were silent. I see no reason why cause, effect, and blame should change now.

(6,713 posts)Its not unusual for prices to rise during the spring and summer and drop in the fall and winter. Supposedly its becausw demand is greater when its warmer, more people traveling.

(53,194 posts)I paid $3 on Friday. I think its the cold; diesel prices are affected by heating oil demand.

(26,667 posts)it doesn't justify these prices at the pump, IMO. However, some greedy CEOs control over the refineries as well and it seems that they're going to get us one way or another!

(255,525 posts)Which is less polluting. I've noticed the increase in prices here in New York, too - suddenly went up to $2.69 in some places. Hoping they'll go back down soon.

(23,607 posts)Seasonally, gas futures tend to dip in the winter months, November and December, and reach their peaks between April and May.
