Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsIntroducing: Mr.L's Lyric Challenge 2.0
In honor of the great success and fun of Lyric Challenge 1, we have decided to announce an all new season 0f
MR L's LYRIC CHALLENGE 2.0
Rules are:
Don't start out too obscure or too obvious. Half the fun of the game is having that fine point of challenge and having someone know your tune. Post just a couple lines or song lyrics. You may later be asked for hints.
Try to stick to artists/ bands that at least 1/3 of the population have likely heard.
Please put song titles, artist names, in the body of the of text and NOT in the subject line. Give new visitors a shot at guessing without seeing an answer posted in the subject line.
NO GOOGLE CHEATING..
Here's the link to the original. 700 posts was so cumbersome.

Song one:Seems to me you don't want to talk about it.
Seems to me you just turn your pretty head and walk away.
Song two:
Two of us sending postcards, writing letters on my wall
You and me burning matches, lifting latches
Song three:
The Can Can's such a pretty dance. It will steal your heart away.
all these are seventies.

(12,904 posts)I put it on my playlist a couple weeks ago. I rode to St. Louis yesterday and heard the song. When it came to that line, I think near the end of the song, I thought, wow, that is some really nice writing.
Its sort of a sweet song. I like it...sounds good on the highway.

Isn't it called :
You and Me - aka opening track on Let It Be?
in which case, LA, you kinda gave it away with that lyric choice
As you did in the second case I believe:
Walk Away - The James Gang ft. Joe Walsh
LakeArenal
(28,809 posts)Because that's not the title either.. ha
And indeed the James Gang..

My personal favorites are Robin Roberts & the Wailers, The Sonics and Paul Revere & the Raiders versions.
The song became the object of attention by 60s era politicians because they couldnt
understand the lyrics, as sung, and thought they might be obscene.
I didnt have any trouble understanding the lyrics.

He is very much a special person.
He reminds me a lot an ex-boyfriend of my wife. He was a very colorful Irishman. I think he was around 40 went he called her to tell her that he had pancreatic cancer and maybe had a few months remaining. She said he was kind of afraid and they talked off and on over the next several weeks. At one point she was trying tell him about a book that was about loving yourself and trying to remember the name of the doctor who wrote it. She said, "His name is... I can almost remember... It's doctor, um, wait I'll think of it... doctor..."
and at that point he interjected, "Kevorkian?" He started laughing and decided he was quite clever.

As far as epic album closers go, it doesn't get much better than this. It's the 'When The Levee Breaks' to Zeppelin IV, it's the 'Won't Get Fooled Again' to Who's Next, the 'Purple Rain' to Purple Rain, the 'Day in the Life' to Sergeant Pepper ... you get the idea?

Wonderwall
US Billboard Hot 100 8
US Alternative Songs (Billboard) 1
US Mainstream Rock (Billboard) 9
US Adult Top 40 (Billboard) 30
US Mainstream Top 40 (Billboard) 10
Both are also certified 'Gold' Records (>500,000 copies sold) in the US.
They're pretty darn close to being 'equal hits' at least in the US, believe it or not ... and both definitely qualify as 'hits' and 'iconic', by a band 30% of people have heard of
Now, my JUST PREVIOUS British song, I'll admit broke the 'rules' a bit. But if you're English and not really young, you definitely know that song ... though you may not know the band off the top of your head ... and it was definitely on the radio here a bit as well ...
