Looking through glass at the gorillas, and a female gorilla with infant walked right up to the glass, turned her back to me, and sat with her back against the glass, proudly showing me her baby!

I stood there and looked for 15 minutes while I told her how beautiful her baby was, and that she was such a good mommy. It was enchanting, and I left with tears rolling.

Females are amazing creatures!

I have never felt anything softer than a gorilla's nose. We used to bring them frozen yogurt after our lunch breaks when I worked at the local zoo many many years ago. Never any closer encounters but that was pretty amazing. I learned a lot from that job, the need for some animals to be there and the need for conservation but I have never gone back.
