Am I the only one in the world...
... who covers my mouth when I yawn even when I'm alone?
I've also been known to say "gesundheit" to myself after a particularly righteous sneeze. If I were on Twitter, I think I'd start a hashtag (with kudos to Lois McMaster Bujold) #atadtoosocialized. -- Mal

3. You never know when there might be an invisible person in the room,
so you're covered.

5. OK, I will own this. I cover my mouth when I yawn because...
When I was little I had a fly go in my mouth when I yawned on my great aunt’s front porch! Freaked me totally out. I’ve covered a yawn ever since. HA!
I’ve been a “gesundheit”er all my life, but can’t recall saying it to myself. (I scared my sleeping cat curled up on my lap once with a hellacious sneeze, she flew up in the air and hit my chin and I said “gawddammit!!!”...does that count for anything?) Hehheh. |

6. No, you are not the only one.
I also say excuse me when I burp even when I am alone.

8. I also cover my mouth when yawning.
However, saying "gesundheit" when sneezing alone is probably a sign of a deep-seated neurosis since I don't do that, and I'm the standard of mental health and normal behaviour.
I'm eccentric, but other people are weird. |

There's no covering that up lol

10. While transcribing, I said "bless you" when the dictating doctor sneezed. He said, "thank you."
I backed up the dictation and listened again and didn't hear anyone say "bless you" on the tape, so it sounded like a response to me.

11. I'll try to pay attention to see if I do that too.
I know I have absolute OCD about saying "gesundheit" or "bless you." I will say it to complete strangers and I get ruffled if I sneeze and I don't hear one back. It's crazy, especially the "bless you's" because I'm not even remotely religious.
