"Last post: Mon Oct 14, 2013, 02:37 PM"...within a day or so of my computer experiencing a massive hardware failure, virus, or a combination of the two. All I know is that all of my data was wiped. Didn't remember which email address I used to set up my DU account, so rather than ask Skinner to help me get back in without having any credentials, I set up the Miles Archer profile and soldiered on.
ANYWAY...a milestone for me, and thanks to everyone here who has taken the time to read my posts and interact with me.
I guess it's a "glass half empty, glass half full" statement if I say "Expect more of the same."

(18,837 posts)Hard drive was WIPED, all of my data was gone.
I have multiple email addresses and had no clue as to which one I used to sign up.
Assumed that if I explained what happened I'd also need to give him the email address.
I don't know...if I had explained everything he may still have helped me get back in, but I figured I didn't have what I needed to make the request, so I just set up the new account.

(16,646 posts)My Washington post account was set up on an email address that no longer exists. Dunno if I can ever recover that one.
Dunno how many email addresses you have (I got 5) but if you sent them ALL the mods might be able to figure out which was the one.

(18,837 posts)...I've stated a few times that I used to be A.V., and even responded to a "Missing In Action" thread a couple of months ago. Someone asked "Whatever happened to Amerigo Vespucci" and I replied "Right HERE, baby."
I always loved the NAME...that was what I regretted giving up the most. I write in a reasonably distinctive style, so nothing has really changed there. I just thought the screen name was a cool one.

(204,798 posts)After the hack, I couldn't come back because I no longer had access to my original (2003) email address - and I sure wasn't willing to start over - but he helped me with a new address so I was able to come back as me.

I remember your America Vespucci days. Keep up the posts! Your thoughts are always interesting.
