Does Parker Posey's portrayal of Dr. Smith remind anyone else of Ally Sheedy in "The Breakfast Club"?
I don't mean to question her acting (well done - excellent character) but the whole reminds me of Ally Sheedy .....which is a very very good thing 😁
It's more than just the look to me but that is part of it.

(44,987 posts)The original was episodic and so campy.
Every week was a different adventure with even trippier aliens and monsters.
I fear the remake has lost almost everything that made the original special.
This one is okay but it's getting pretty drawn out... it's like Lost in Space
disguised in the format of any old generic series from the 2000-teens.
My hopes are up though. 5...4...3...2....

(182,603 posts)I was reading up on the old show. This was of course during the Cold War space race so the theme was America triumphant but Dr. Smith was an agent if some foreign government on a mission to disrupt the whole thing. They changed his character to basically be a clumsy goof (ala Gilligan) that creates the 22 minutes of turmoil that must be overcome.
It started as a comic named "Space Family Robinson" - yes there were lawsuits.
