The first of the Bachelor Buttons has bloomed

Last year they came up in all shades of blue. Hope the same happens this year.

"roadside weed". It's not normally a flower that you find by the roadside. They are usually deliberately planted by gardeners.

... talking to and coaxing these various plants to bloom ? You catch them in the freshness and the glory of less than a day old newly bloomed flower at peak color and unblemished petals on full display.

Every time I see a blue to bluish-purple perennial I can't resist adding it to my garden.
