I've never posted this before but...I'm lonesome. Keep me company.

Husband is at MMA class (where he's the oldest but by-God-gamest student there), friends have been so busy lately we're growing apart, I'm avoiding what I really should be working on, and I have a vodka martini under my belt. I'm feeling like silly yet somehow intimate conversation, possibly punctuated by smilies. Whaddaya got?

He was a sweet, funny old guy who owned a cafe and drank waaaaay too much but his peppers were his pride and we made some kick ass hot vinegar from them. Nice memory.

When I posted that OP, I realized (admittedly at the last minute) that it was a simile...
but the connotation of "symbolic" rather than "comparative" was more important to me
so, KNOWING that most folks don't really know the difference between a simile and
metaphor, I warped the rules of Grammar for my own nefarious purposes.

Keep that in mind next time you decide to pull rank on ME, Sarge!!!!

Well, what do I have? Just finished dinner, and am nibbling a piece of coffee cake.....without coffee, no less!

I had a great time last night at the local open mic...read an erotic poem that went over quite well.

It's in my Notes on facebook...

No colognes; the suits swim in scents only of him. You breathe him in, memorizing, smells turning to liquid on your tongue, bitter at the back, finally sweet at the tip, dripping a single drop onto the fold of linen between your fingers. You rub your bare cheek into his breast pocket, thrust your nose between the flaps and whiff musk and sweat. Your arms encircle the jacket’s waist, asking. Yes! Laughing, you draw him out, hanger falling away like skeleton as you clutch the cuffs, stretching wide until you bring his breast to yours. He is stiff, woolen, perfect, now brought down to your height and width. You press his buttons into your belly, cold, shocking amid the warm folds. Silk lining at his nape invites licks. Smiling, you take salty wool between tender teeth, sucking the grain for sustenance, searching. And not finding enough, you bite. The cloth is nicked and frayed, making you tremble at evidence and audacity. No restraints, now. You slip your arm past lapel into cool interior, hearing hiss of woman flesh into strange, male territory. Another arm. You are its, enveloped, merged. As you step backward into the room your feet find rhythm long lost, long abandoned. Wrapping the jacket’s arms about you, tears staining the precious breast, you begin to dance. Like this, you bastard. Like this.

Any questions?

(This a very old college piece btw, an assignment to write about sex without writing about sex)

I just got back from seeing "War Horse" on stage at the Princess of Wales Theatre in Toronto. About to head out for happy hour at a local Irish pub. But I thought I'd post to say hi and offer a hug. You've been there for me during some of my lonesome times...

Think of it as a loud, bloody, intense, sad, war experience. Extraordinarily moving, though. And the puppetry is astonishing...

In the film, they're just horses.

I haven't seen the film yet, but I am interested to see how they adapt it from the stage version. Puppetry aside, there are a number of sequences on stage, mostly battle scenes, that are highly stylized and surreal. Some of them have an almost German Expressionist feel to them.

Terrified of graduating. Bloody terrified.

It's odd...I signed up for DU about a month into my freshman year because my campus is so damn conservative. Now it's almost over. Full circle and so on and so forth.

and me on DU and Craigslist.

My daughter's just gotten a job in McLean VA, very close to DC. She's got to be out there in 2 weeks (from New Mexico). Do you have any advice on finding an apartment from afar, or where a cheap (but safe) location may be? I'm trying to do some basic research. For me? A very cool houseboat right on the Potomac sounds excellent!

http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/doc/reo/2984490847.html

Whaddya think? She's very handy growing up as a farm kid to take on such an endeavor. I'd spot her the downpayment. Or maybe I should just chuck it all and move in myself?

Decisions, decisions.

Edited to add the obligatory smilie I picked one at random - I've never used this one before but it seems to fit

I have been looking at waterfront property (Cheeeeaaap waterfront property) and daydreaming of living on water. But I do know the upkeep on anything on the water can be formidable. Check it out first! And btw you're a good parent.
