Craig Safan wrote it, was not credited.
Played over the end credits of the movie "Thief"
There are many versions of the "Thief" soundtrack, and you WON'T find this on MOST of them (I used to have a vinyl copy that had it).
Safan basically "borrows" the Gilmour solo section of "Comfortably Numb."
Enjoy.

(20,681 posts)1. "Comfortably Numb" is my favorite song from Pink Flyod.
"The Wall" is a masterpiece. I have not seen "Thief".

The song was played in a scene from Martin Scorses's "The Departed" as well.

(22,235 posts)7. My favorite version is from "Pulse," because...
...Gilmour does something on the "Pulse" version that he doesn't do anywhere else.
At the 8 minute mark, he just keeps using the whammy bar while hitting several bent notes, and it sounds like the wind howling. Then he gets back into the solo and brings it home.
I own multiple versions of the song...the original, from "The Wall," live Floyd versions from "Is There Anybody Out There," "Delicate Sound Of Thunder," and "Pulse," the Waters / Morrison version, cover versions from Dream Theater, Jadis and Gov't Mule, and Gilmour's "Live At Pompei" and "Live In Gdansk."

If I heard this in passing, would totally mistake it for Floyd. He even "borrowed" Gilmour's tone.
