Anyhow, it's a local punk rock band and without giving away her privacy, I will ask that anyone post their favorite punk Summertime.

Hot time Summer in the City
Back of my Neck getting dirt and gritty
Bend down, isn't it a pity
Doesn't seem to be a shadow in the city
All around people looking half-dead
Heat on the side walk
Hotter than a match head
But it night it's a different world

Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer
Those days of soda and pretzels and beer
Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer
You'll wish that summer could always be here
Just fill your basket full of sandwiches and wienies
Then lock the house up and now you're set.
And on the beach you'll see the girls in their bikinis
As cute as ever but they never get them wet.
Don't have to tell a girl and fella about a drive in
or some romantic movie scene
Right from the moment that those lovers start arriving,
You'll see more kissing in the cars than on the screen

I think I just realized why this and others I posted earlier feel like summer - because we had more time to listen to music on our radios or record players than we did the rest of the year - old music technology - no iPods or phones with music and earplugs - that would have been super Sci-fi excellence!

The Rolling Stones - Hot Rocks 1964-1971
The story for me here is, and I have to say it is not just summer, but predominantly so...
My uncle had a cool gold '69 Cougar, with cream leather top. He also had a little cottage by the beach - a kinda crappy beach, but so what, this is east coast ocean and it is summer!
He had an 8-track in there (and at his cottage), and he had this tape and some Elton John thing i remember. He drove us kids down for the weekend (1.5 hr) many times while smoking cigars and drinking strong cocktails and going at least 90- 100 MPH - not so actually outrageous in the early 70's - at least it didn't seem like, it, but it did still feel edgy as a kid then.
Anyway - in retrospect - I can't fathom how he had this album, but it was fun for sure.
Glamrock
(12,003 posts)P. S. I got a uncle on the beach, but alas, he gets no 69 Cougar....
consider_this
(2,847 posts)this uncle is still alive, kicking, smoking Cgars and pounding drinks.
defying medical wisdom.
Sadly, his cars are no longer cool.
Maybe I get some of those genes?!?
Glamrock
(12,003 posts)I hope you do gots dem genes baby!
consider_this
(2,847 posts)that's all he has of that car. He moved up to a Mercedes 450SL convertible - which he let teen me drive - (VROOM -yeah, how did that happen?!)O - but in his old age has no cool wheels. I think he is blessed with health and ability to party - we should all be as lucky if we get there.
