Do you have them? How well do they work? Did you get your money's worth?

(12,265 posts)When I had cataract surgery 2 years ago they were pushed on me really hard. I told some people at work and two came forward saying they had them and still needed readers, one even needed bifocals again. It is NOT worth the money for sure.

(12,051 posts)all of you been happy with? I envisioned lenses that would let me read AND do distance, but if that's not working for most people, I'll just get regular lenses. Having said that, among the types of regular lenses, what would be the best?

(6,109 posts)One of my lenses is set for distance, the other for close distance for reading. This is what I previously had with contact lenses. Now that it has been over a year and everything has settled down, I might get glasses for occasional use. They would correct both eyes to 20/15 for distance down to about 6-8" focus for close work. So far I am functioning well with just the implants.

(5,268 posts)Even before cataracts I had extreme near sightedness, so I love being able to drive, ride bike, watch TV, swim, sightsee and do most chores without glasses or just with standard sunglass or protective glasses. I can see all of my dashboard controls in car without glasses now. as i only need glasses for small print and closeup work. However to have totally sharp vision for both near and far, I got a pair of bifocals and sunglass bifocals.
I am so used to wearing glasses and do tons of yard work and projects that require protective glasses anyway so I didn't see point of taking a chance on the expensive lenses costing thousands of dollars more with possible side effects such as flashes and poorer night vision , just to be able to never have to wear glasses. For me, having the mid and long distance clarity was enough as any standard reading glasses work fine for closeup.
