Couldn't find an expensive rug to puke on, had to leave the hairball on a bare floor.

(1,579 posts)2. Ha! I was recently explaining to my vet that my cat has an affinity for throwing up on
the rugs (any rug will do), while the bare floor is a scant 4 inches away.
...you learn to do 'olympic cat tossing'.

(24,329 posts)6. Our vet says it has to do with the convulsions of vomiting
Cats go to the carpet to steady themselves because the reaction is rather violent. It helps to keep them balanced and they are less likely to get injured (at least, that's what the cat is thinking)

I gave up up on real rugs several menageries ago.
But the cats puke on the tile floor. Of course....can't throw tiles into the washer like throw rugs.
devil cats...sheesh.

She always pukes on regular floor. Even before I took the carpet out, she would go in the kitchen or the bathroom.
She does have one mildly annoying habit. If her litter box is not as clean as she would like, she will pee in the bathtub. But of all the places she could pee, that's kind of the second best after her litter box.
