Happy Cinco de Mayo (Battle of Puebla, NOT independence)
first, somebody set several fires along and just off the interstate last night. none were on us, but one neighbor had 3 set along their road. They didn't get big and the local firefighters got them all put out by daylight, but how strange.
I went up to the other exit on us to see if there had been anything burned up there. Didn't see any signs of fire, but did find some interesting tracks. At first I thought they might be somebody walking around in those funny separated-toe sports shoes but then I saw the front paw print. These were less than 1/4 mile from the interstate, at a place we call "the picnic area" - a place lots of people like to have gatherings. It is also very near where we had the lion kill two years ago. Not to mention near the other neighbors who had a problem with one of our bulls this year. I sent them an e-mail with these pictures to let them know. Asked if their dogs had been barking more than usual lately.
the single barefoot track to the right is mine, for scale (along with tire tracks)
front paw was bigger than Dumbass's tracks! Big critter!
things are drying up and they are on the move, I guess
we don't get them here too often because of the interstate, but every now and then one gets hit by a car.
not much for them to eat around here right now either.
