Does anyone have first hand knowledge about the effectiveness of using a

fire extinguisher to kill rattlesnakes rather than snake shot? I want to be at a distance so the gizmo that captures snakes is out of the question. We get 5 to 6 rattlers a year. One is too many.

if you are defending yourself...wasp spray works on home intruders and everything else you have to hit from 20ft away. Check your local laws.

On edit... I try to let them escape when possible... unless they are a direct threat.

chooses my abode I have to make fatal choices. These rattlers are not endangered, but they are a danger to me, my dogs and horses. The average size is 5-6 feet in length. Generally we try to capture and then drive a couple miles into the hills and release, but it is not always possible.

6. I actually tried the meat once a few years back. Wrapped in bacon and cooked on the grill.

It tasted OK but my brain still said it was snake and I never tried it again.

We even get coral snakes here. They are very rare and their bite is more dangerous than a rattler. I have found two on the street in front of my property, they were dead before I got to them. Probably hawks or owls got to them.

I had heard that the employees on some airport runways in TX use fire extinguishers on the snakes, but I don't know if this is true. That's why I posted.
