- 4 parts orange juice
- 1 part medium-dry Sherry
- ice
It's my variation of a cocktail (well, a highball) I read about on the internet and I like to call it "Bitter Orange."
Fruity. Sour with a hint of bitterness. Refreshing.

(11,924 posts)4 oz. red or white wine (the drier, the better)
4 oz. seltzer or club soda
1/4 tsp (or to taste) of flavored water enhancer
(I use berry flavored Mio with the red wine and tropical mango Mio with white wine)
1-2 oz. of flavored vodka depending how strong you like it
(I use orange vodka with the red wine, and grapefruit vodka with the white wine)
Serve over ice in a glass garnished with a slice of lime. Double or quadruple the ingredients to make a pitcher full!
I'm diabetic and this is much kinder to my blood sugar numbers than regular sangria is. It's only about 3 carbs, and you get a whole 9 to 10 oz. serving over ice. The original recipe was for the red version. I adapted the white version because my daughter has allergic reactions to red wines.

Tropicana Twister used to make an Orange Peach flavor that tasted exactly like it without the booze. Sadly no longer made.
1 bottle of dry red wine
1 corkscrew
1 wine glass
Remove cork, pour wine into glass.
Dont bother putting the cork back in, its a waste of time and energy.

(7,530 posts)Shot Kahlua, Shot Vodka, half-and-half (or milk) on rocks.
Since they have such an unfortunate name in these times, let me also present the Mind Eraser:
Shot Kahlua, Shot Vodka, seltzer, and ice, drink through a straw for maximum effect in these troubled times.
And nothing can top a cold Margarita:
Shot Tequila, Shot Triple-Sec, Lime Juice, and Tequila mix or Sweet and Sour mix over ice with a salted rim.
I invented what I call the "First Date Margarita" when I want the taste but not to get plastered:
Shot Triple Sec (optional - it's like 4% alcohol), Shot Agave Nectar, Lime, and Lemon Juice, 1/2 Orange Juice, 1/2 no sugar Sour Mix.
My other weird thing if I go to a bar is Tequila and Coke - best with a pinch of salt and a lime.
I'm really not an alcoholic, these are my rare go-to drinks.
