(3,894 posts)know it isn't any better than pink slime which as i recall we were all outraged over just a few weeks ago.
Color me confused.

(81,856 posts)Preferably Nathans with mustard and Sauerkraut
alphafemale
(18,497 posts)Just as an occasional thing though. Even those brands aren't exactly healthy. Just not as bad as some of the rest.
Tom1960
(63 posts)just the way I like them. I also love chicago dogs, but hard to get a good one in salt lake city.
sometimes jalapeno peppers are good too. depends on my mood.
alphafemale
(18,497 posts)Drives my bf crazy when I eat them almost like pickles. He can barely handle banana peppers.

(3,894 posts)I eat hotdogs too. Mustard, sauerkraut, relish, swiss cheese. Just had to ask the other question before I admitted it.
alphafemale
(18,497 posts)Everyone pretty much knew that was the kind of stuff in preformed patties and nuggets.
Lionessa
(3,894 posts)Even so it managed to shut down a number of the pink slime factories iirc.

(18,497 posts)Plus, many regular dogs make me feel awful later. Weighted and lethargic. Same thing with some of those coffee creamers. Some some food additive out their does a number on me.

(33,688 posts)They're the only ones I trust. I loved the old Hebrew National ads: "We answer to a higher authority."

(4,524 posts)I'm not vegetarian and I like the hamburgers they have (especially the black bean ones, with some added heat of course).
jobycom
(49,038 posts)Where's the difference? Meat is meat. Why is one part of the animal somehow grosser than the rest of the animal? This vegetarian doesn't get it. Parts is parts.
Lionessa
(3,894 posts)and even some vegetation, where certain parts are safe and edible and others are not.
I don't think being a vegetarian somehow means you eat all and any part of all or any part of the flora.
jobycom
(49,038 posts)People just find them more gross than other parts.

is a hot dog wrapped in mesquite-smoked bacon then cooked on a grill or on a griddle,
then topped with freshly chopped tomatoes, onions, shredded yellow or cotijo cheese,
tomatillo salsa or red chili sauce, pinto beans, mayonnaise, ketchup and/or mustard,
and served on bread and often with a fresh-roasted chili. It originated in Hermosillo,
the capital of Sonora.
.
Yes, you purists who can't see KETCHUP on a dog (I sometimes like it for variety),
the Sonoran hot dog pretty much MANDATES MAYO!!!
.
.
.
The fresh-roasted chili is a real plus, taking a big ol' bite out of it as you make progress
on the dog(s).

(30,885 posts)Most Californian supermarket employees have never heard of "sport peppers" or "neon relish." So after making substitutions (pepperoncini for the sport peppers, and whatever relish I'm in the mood for to replace the "neon green" , I do enjoy the OCCASIONAL "Chicago Dog" (and I've never been to Chicago for the real deal). You also can't find poppyseed buns here.
http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/food-network-kitchens/chicago-dogs-recipe/index.html
Directions
Serve boiled hot dogs on poppy-seed buns with dill pickle and cucumber spears, sliced tomatoes, sweet pickle relish, pickled peppers, diced onion and yellow mustard. Sprinkle with celery salt.
GoCubsGo
(32,081 posts)I mist them with a little bit of water and sprinkle on some poppy seeds. The neon relish is just standard sweet pickle relish with some green food dye in it. One can buy it on Amazon.com or from Vienna Beef, if one insists on the neon green sort.
