time to sell the vinyl collection

Are any of these things worth anything? Got no pristine covers, most have dust sleeves but I've been to the thrift store and have seen the same thing for 1.18 each.

Although my Black Oak Arkansas album might be worth a small fortune.

Wadda you guys know?

About 90% of the disks are in excellent if not perfect condition. The covers are not, though. I have a few rare covers that are worth something. None of it is for sale for two reasons, I still listen to them and my granddaughter wants them when I'm gone.

Valuable: the Classic Rock Canon: Black Sabbath, Beatles, Stones, Zep, Fleetwood Mac, Roxy, Neil Young, etc. Pre-'75 Jazz, rare Post-Punk.

Not valuable: Streisand, Country, Christian, Classical.

Go to discogs.com to look at high and low prices for condition (NOT ebay, where people are delusional), or a used vinyl store with a list and they'll tell you what they're interested in. Or try Craigslist if you want to sell them yourself.

You can always add them to your deductions if you're itemizing - and if you've got hundreds, it adds up!

And if not, it's always a nice feeling to know someone else might enjoy them. Even someone in Africa, since I understand that's were a lot of the unsold Goodwill stuff goes.

Good luck!

a tad bit away.

Most of it is pre 75. Leon Russel through Leo Kotke, PinK Floyd and a bunch of others.

After I got out of the army they came out with music cds that you could get 20 for 10.00 or some such number. I went that route and haven't bought another 33 1/3 rpm album since.

of extra money each month.

To get the most out of them, it’s a lot of work — look up what album is going for, photograph, grade, list individually on eBay or something, package ship, handle returns, etc. On EBay, looks like people make a few dollars on shipping and handling, even if record not worth a lot.

Most of my covers are not pristine, and I’d have to listen to album to determine how record is. So, it’s probably not going to keep me from eating cat food in retirement.

A marketplace site completely devoted to music that catalogs all the different releases of an album. You can find out if you've got an unusual edition and offer it for sale.
