Obama endorses gay marriage and it STILL doesn't bring on the Rapture

I figured once a US president endorsed same sex marriage that the bowels of the earth would errupt engulfing all us sinners while the faithful would float away to heaven leaving scatters of empty clothes and wandering pets along the streets.

Oddly enough nothing has changed - go figure.

Damn. Some fundymentalpatient has to have a nice Maserati, Porsche or Ferrari and I was counting on picking one up. All normal here. Sun shining, birds chirpin' - a beautiful spring day. No signs of volcanoes, flesh eating ogres or any other mayhem. One never knows, but I'd better get home on time to feed the cat or someone's gonna be grumpy.

I "get" to spend a week this summer with some of the most hidebound, reactionary fundamentalist folks you can imagine. One of the talking points I'm working to develop is something along the lines of: "In spite of what might be considered several golden opportunities in the last few years, the Almighty hasn't seen fit to wipe the slate clean in the rapture (or whatever). I'd say it's up to us in this room to get serious about working out an accommodation with each other."
