(29,404 posts)My dad, who grew up in Chicago, said "warsh," and the wood at the bottom of the window was the "window seel." In 1959, we ended up in Rochester, NY, where he lived for the rest of his life (52 years), and he always pronounced it Rock-chester.

(426 posts)....I had a few boyfriends over the years who were either born there, or lived there for an extended period. So I picked up a little knowledge about the state. At one point I wanted to attend Ohio State. But that never got off the ground.
