I need some ideas. I remember as a child being a 6 legged spider. That was very fun, but I can't pull-off wearing tights anymore.
I was thinking of being "a person in the wind". Attaching street trash to my clothes and using hair goo to make my hair stand out to one side as though being in the wind.

I love your idea!

(11,862 posts)I just cut lengths from the legs, arms, and tightened the overall width, sewed it all back together, so my munchkin looked like a marine in camouflage.

(15,273 posts)Put together red tulle and satin puffy dress, sprayed my red hair crimson, over did the make up. Handed out business cards with my name and phone number which of course was 1-800-666-6666 and the motto Snares, pitfalls and temptations my specialty.
I had great fun with that costume!

(2,344 posts)I also dressed as Marilyn Monroe one year.
But my daughter dressed up several years ago in a tutu made of newspaper and went as 'The Death of Print Journalism!'
What an advanced child you have!

(21,390 posts)I put it on my head and went as a Missing Child.

(29,685 posts)I basically had to put it on, show people my costume, then take it off.
Years ago I went to a party where the winning costume was very, very simple. The person just dressed in black clothes, cut out the middle of a plastic laundry basket and put it around his chest, added a few wadded up clothes, put an empty cardboard box of detergent over his head, and waved an empty bottle of bleach. This was at a huge gathering, a charity fundraiser. He was the clear favorite, over many more elaborate costumes. When they announced, "the Laundry Basket!!" everyone cheered.
They might have been simpler times, but I always remembered that fun costume.

(8,566 posts)One year Mr. femmedem and I wore black berets and turtlenecks. I painted nude, semi-abstract portraits on cardboard of our torsos, framed them, and we wore them over our clothes. (This was at a Halloween party at an art gallery.)

I painted a box black and cut out where the screen is. I wore it on my head.

(97,269 posts)I had a basket of little boxes that said the same as my costume to hand out. I used a box, covered it in pink paper, used white paper for the labels w/ black print. Tucked my body inside (head, arms and legs free) and walked around as a method for having a baby without the hassles of a relationship with a man.
The who needs a man plan. Just add water.
Not even a sperm bank can claim that!
* Turkey baster not included.
Because I could. And I was a little angry at the time.

(4,919 posts)...with little laminated cards stuck all over my body with typeset quotes like...
"The check is in the mail."
"Sorry, I need to wash my hair tonight."
"Something suddenly came up."
"No new taxes."
I was a little white lie.
I worked at Kinko's at time, and got invited to a party at the last minute... I took advantage of Kinko's resources before I finished my shift.

(5,167 posts)Cut a hole in the bottom of a plastic clothes basket for his legs to fit through, then strings like suspenders to go over his shoulders to hold it up. Load it up with old towels etc and stick an empty detergent bottle in at a jaunty angle.

(31,980 posts)I went with my roommates to a costume party...
We had workman jumpsuits on, with glow sticks on the inside (they were new then), faked geiger counters (on max with the volume muted most of the time) work boots, hard hats... and, in Russian, "Chernobyl Pipe-fitters Union" stitched on the back.
A little bit of gallows humor... but I was young.
Anyway, we won the costume contest.

(72,523 posts)I put together a terrific Empire-period outfit out of my own wardrobe, complete with leather riding boots. I walked with a limp, and carried a sheet of paper with Byron's poem So We'll Go No More A'Roving written out in calligraphy.
A year later, I recycled some of my costume elements to play Montresor in a Halloween production of "The Cask Of Amontillado":

I just need to design a Florida Man logo and get it on the shirt!

(6,530 posts)I wore a long, brassy blond wig, fishnet stockings, a very short skirt and I wore a much-too-large bra and stuffed it. Oh; and my makeup was amazing. It was an easy (heh) costume.
