(13,895 posts)40 plus years of working call in hospitals sucks... When the money was good it was neat. When they started chipping away at the monetary rewards it just sucked...

One day after your birthday and already you are complaining. I got 20 years on you and I bravely stood out in the cold this morning putting signs on my car so everyone along our way was a bit safer this morning.

(23,339 posts)Computer programs seem to find a way to break at inconvenient times. At the start of my career, I'd get the 2:30 call and have to drive to work to fix the problem. Later, I could sit at my "work" computer at home, and generally fix the problem. Finally I retired.
Now, the 2:30am call is not from the boss, but from the bladder.
All in all, "not working" is better.
(I know, fixing things from your home computer is probably not possible for a physician. No virtual surgery for you.)
