How do you edge a pie? With fork or finger and thumb or ?

When I was auditing folk-lore classes years ago, some students were upset because they thought they didn't have any folk-lore; they were just boring vanilla.

The instructor said that how they were taught to edge and decorate pies was part of their family's and region's folk-lore. I haven't looked at pies the same way since.
