Update: In the middle of an interview, is it bad if they're telling you other things to apply for?

They were steering me towards a different part of the process, telling me to apply for other things. I don't think I got this one. Thanks for the vibes and the love. I appreciate it.

it could mean that they already kinda know who they're going to hire, but that they think you would be an asset to the company. They like you, they really like you.

It's actually Child Welfare, not a company. I have to get away from corporate or I'm going to die inside.

And, you might that one of those might be an even better job than the one for which you are interviewing.

It seems to me the HR person sees that you have the skills/training that they need in another area. This doesn't seem like bad news, really.

The supervisor of the department. It's Child Welfare that I was applying for. I'll look for other things to apply for and figure it all out.

They're steering you to the position they would hire you for.

It's up to you what you want though, if you don't want what they want you for...that's fine. Too few people look at job-hunting as analogous to what it is: a relationship, basically...complete with dating and courtship. It's a two-way street...both you and the employer have to be happy or else neither of you will ever be happy and you'd be better off not-together.
