The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsWould y'all think less highly of me if I admit I just downed a
a bowl of cheezit bacon cheese duoz, half a bag of strawberry twizzlers and five miniature paydays washed down with two large cups caff. free cola with bourbon cola mixed in? 🙄
I tried to drown my distresses and now I don't feel so hot. 🤤

(33,643 posts)In all seriousness, though ... sorry you're having a crap night, friend.
I've definitely done the same kinda shit, more times that I'd like to admit. In fact, many times its involved things a lot worse than Bourbon, put it like that ...

(20,249 posts)one, Chameleon. Chameleon will grow hair. My other half has to peel me off the ceiling with gigantically dilated pupils after I drink that one.
😆
I like minding my own business, then I get roped into mixing with neighbors and others like a new bank and I want to rend my garments, hair, etc. Plus, as you are witnessing, I keep late hours and then pay l8r. Haven't matured yet.😝
Thanx for your thots. I'll recoup when the Dems take charge in November.

(33,643 posts)And I'm counting on something similar happening again in a couple weeks.
If it doesn't happen ... you honestly might not see Mr_L after that, sorry to have to admit.
I honestly don't think I can take another 2 years of this shit.

(86,636 posts)after all that. I have found that I can't sleep more than two hours at a time and adding up to about four total per night... no naps. I ate a bunch of junk food yesterday too, for dinner.
sigh, two more weeks. Already mailed in my ballot.

(20,249 posts)when the night comes around, I feel like I just did the same routine ten minutes ago. Clean up from supper, do some more laundry, hit the sack, get up tired, repeat all over again.
Something's gotta give in a good way for the majority of us. The government needs a sea change. Otherwise, I shudder to think.
Me and the hub will early vote soon. It took some doing piecing together who's on our ballot. I got a mailer with judges and corresponding party! Which is great bc they had a tendency to obscure them and you go bonkers trying to research them. Sneaky ads on local teevee don't let on what party they represent. I bring 'cliff' notes in with me voting to make sure I did right. 😊
I'm praying and believing for victory in November.

(17,984 posts)And many of my friends. We wake up tired, depressed try to do things you do not have the energy to do. Try to stay away from TV, go through books like crazy.
I just sent an email to someone describing why I am a Democrat, will never vote for a Republican because I can remember the years of uncertainty. Strikes, layoffs, trying to get decent wages and benefits. A short period of prosperity for the worker. One job.
Then came the long years of those who came after, voting for Republicans, bitching because they had to pay Union dues. Allowing Republicans and companies to slowly strip those benefits away until the middle class was broken, Corporations won.
And yet they still believe the biggest swindler of all times will save them. A modern Elmer Gantry, who will tell lie after lie, they still believe.
And we wonder why we are depressed? No,we need to fight back with every fiber of our being. The future of our kids and Grandkids depend on us!

(20,249 posts)My new go-to word, if you don't mind.
I'm 'seasoned', up in chronological years, not in spirit. This is taking a toll on many regardless how resilient one may feel they are.
If it's not blatant-up front-in your face, it's subliminal and does damage covertly. You can't get away from it bombarding your every fiber.
Our tv is off all day till hub gets home and unwinds. But he even stirs to change channels when ugly person shows up.
The resolution will come eventually. We are the Americans, not for no reason at all!

(20,249 posts)scummy legislation would get a clue and kick out the faction that is notorious for destruction. But, no. There seems to be some sort of pathology going on with them. They continue to readily drink their kkkoolaid.

They are hurting themselves but need someone to blame for their own shortcomings.
Trump is greed, personified, the reason they admire him. Something for nothing. Wanta be swindlers!

(20,249 posts)Youse guys interpreted that I had bourbon cola with likker.
It was a bottle of Bourbon Barrel Cola. I mix it with plain cola or mix plain with Raspberry Coke.
So sorry to have disappointed y'all. If I imbibe, it would be Peppermint Schnapps. Soothing for the innards. 🙃

(20,249 posts)I have a story about some churchy folks an' a fifth of Wild Turkey. The turkey part was appropriate in describing my other half. This happened when he was young[er] and foolish.

(938 posts)I love to mix bourbon and caffeine-free diet cola. Caffeine messes with my sleep patterns more than alcohol.
As long as you know your own boundaries, it's all good. With your good taste in music, I have a feeling you're doing just what you need to get by.

(5,240 posts)FYI I am eating cheetos as I type....
sprinkleeninow
(20,249 posts)Oh, 'cheetos'! Now I want some of them! 😋 Those puffy ones and not the crunchy ones. Go full tilt!
First I have something savory/salty, then something sweet. It's like a mini midnite knosh.
I sometimes mix some potato chips and chocolate chips together in a bowl--sweet 'n' salty.
Thanks for the musical recognition. 😉

(1,533 posts)The distinction used to be Fried vs. Baked. The Puffs were the baked, cheese flavored Styrofoam. Baked is not full tilt.
OTOH, the mix of Cheetos with gum drops (spice drops) is good. Back and forth between salty and sweet. Lets you eat more of them, because you don't get burned out on the one thing.
+1 for the strawberry licorice. Don't like black licorice, but do like sambucca, chilled, with a couple coffee beans.
sprinkleeninow
(20,249 posts)I still fancy the cheese sprayed styrofoam ones. 😝
Cheetos plus gumdrops. Crunchewy. Gotta try that combo!
