Which one are you?

I’m reminded of the time my wife and I tried to teach our dog ‘Jenny’ to fetch.
We’d toss a stick out, she run to where it landed, and come back without it.

We’d walk over, pick up the stick and toss it again.
She run to where it landed, and come back without it.

Finally we realized we were the ones doing the fetching.
