I understand that people have differeing opinions on extended breastfeeding but in my experience, and I do have some, much of the extension is for the anxieties of the parent rather than the child. I have studied attachment for many years, and part of it is to learn to symbolize affection and safety, to create an internal structure that knows it's there without it having to be constantly reinforced. This mom might be well intentioned in comforting him (there is NO nutritional need at this point) but the magazine is being sexual and provocative by using her in those clothes and that posture and she's cooperating with that, to the possible detriment of her son.

And that "Are You Mom Enough" headline is just horrible. Just what we need right now, a division among women who need to stick together. The whole thing sucks.

And she was like "Yeah, what do I have to do?"

and the boy was like, "Fuck, whatever, mmmrmmemmfhhmmefmm."

And yeah, I call it exploitation.
