A story I read on Reader's Digest long ago.

A lady sent in her story.

The woman had a pet dog an neighbor's who kept a pet rabbit in a cage in their back yard. One day when the woman was outside doing some yard work, her dog came running up to her with the body of the neighbor's rabbit in her mouth. Thinking that her dog somehow got at the rabbit and killed it and not wanting the neighbor's to be mad at her and her dog, the woman, knowing the neighbors were gone somewhere at that time, took the dead rabbit, washed it and blowed dried it. She then snuck over to the neighbor's backyard and placed the dead rabbit in the cage, hoping that they would think the pet had died of natural causes.

A few hours later, the neighbors returned home and not too long after that, the police arrived at the home. After the police left, the woman walked over to the neighbor's to find out what had happened. The neighbor lady told her that their pet rabbit had died the day before and they buried it in the back yard but some sicko had dug it up and put it back in it's cage when they were gone.
