Pennsylvania Dutch Red Beet Eggs are better!
There are fancy recipes involving fresh beets but this is what Grandma did:

2 cans sliced red beets (not pickled) with juice
2 cups cider vinegar
1 cup sugar
3 cups water
18 hard boiled eggs

Boil water, sugar and vinegar until sugar dissolves. Dump in beets and eggs. Refrigerate at least 1 day. The longer they marinate the better (and pinker!) Serve sliced in half and pass the salt.
