Here are some recommendations on some of the funniest toons ever produced during the golden age of Hollywood .. I have attached direct links to the toons..

Below this description is a direct link..., "Tweety Pie".. one of the best Sylvester and Tweety Toons, very funny. 1947...more info on this one:
..Tweetie Pie is a 1947 Merrie Melodies cartoon directed by Friz Freleng and produced by Warner Bros. Cartoons, depicting the first pairing of Tweety and Sylvester. Tweetie Pie won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film..

"A Tale of Two Kittens" It is the very first Tweety Toon ever made...Also there are two cats in this called .."Babbot and Costello" a take off on the great comedy team..Abbot and Costello. If you watch it you will see some great lines..one of which is, Who get the bird?.. This one is great toon, lots of fun, Tweety is mean! Made in 1942.

I had no idea these original cartoons were still available. We boomers got to see them in theaters.......25 cent admission, 2 cartoons, sometimes a cliffhanger serial AND a double feature movie!!!
and later they were aired on tv on various shows.

( It took me years too long to realize why the parents sent the kids to the movies on Sat. afternoons.... )

it was the Shore Theater in Chicago, Illinois...on Columbus Day 25.... cartoons, back to back .for 25 cents..
....That is correct, about almost 3 hours of continuous toons on a large screen, no commercial of any kind back to back to back....That is why I am a cartoon fan..When I was a kid, I loved the cartoon shows...kids were running up and down the aisles...popcorn all over the place...one cartoon after another..most were Warner Bros toons, and that is why I like them so much...In fact, later as an adult, I sought out a presentation in at a university , where one of the individuals who made those cartoons was giving a speech.
...After the presentation which took about an hour and a half, or more, he was on the way out, and I got his autograph. It was Fritz Freeling, who won one of the academy awards that are listed above. "Birds Anonymous"... So, I met him for 2 minutes or so, but he was a great animator/director.. who went back to the 30s with and he worked with Disney in the beginning of his career. There will be many more recommendations for great cartoons..as we go on. Even more recent TV shows, like Animaniacs,..I will give recs for. Yes, I am a cartoon nut...oh well there are worse things in the world to be.................

changed the name..and it became Sylvester..In the toon business it took some higher up to decide if they were going to go for a series of toons.. That one, "Tweety Bird" won the award, so they made more of them..dozens more. And, remember, as you said,.. the Sat afternoon shows, had two cartoons and a feature movie. Back in my day, early 50s, (yes I was very young) you got a cartoon, today's news, sometimes a "short" (often 3 Stooges) , sometimes a travel short, and then the full length movie.
...Sometimes...you got a double feature...two full movies for the price of one...Now that happened after the films were out a while. 2nd or 3rd run we would call it. The brand new films that came out back in the day, played at the large downtown Chicago movie theaters. Well known films would stay downtown for weeks.
...I remember Ben Hur..with Charlton Heston was towntown for a couple of months. And you paid extra for those shows. oh well..........another time and another place...
