Those of us who ever played bass in a band (and my last gig on bass was something like 1974)
ALL knew of Donald Dunn and his versatility on the instrument. He was a legendary figure on bass
before electric bassists were ever supposed to be cool. He was almost always paired with guitarist
Steve Cropper, and I'll bet Cropper feels like the bottom half of his torso was just cut off. I still
remember them as the "white" half of Booker T and the MGs. Those four fit like a simple jigsaw
puzzle.
