Back in August I told the barber to cut it above my ears and a inch up top since it wasn't terribly long. The barber thought I said to leave about an inch up top so it's the shortest I've ever had my hair. Unfortunately the hair on both sides wants to part towards the center so it looked like I had pointy hair in the center..

I was hoping that I would be able to style it into something by now, but I'm still several weeks away before I can get the top to look acceptable. The bad part is that my hair is back over my ears and I really don't want to spend the money to fix the sides when the top will still look bad.

Thankfully, I'm not taking any photos so I won't be sharing.

I shouldn't be too difficult to remember since I'm a tall, lanky white guy going into a shop that caters primarily to blacks.

I had a great barber when I was in college and she moved into Austin about the same time that I graduated and moved there myself. I was with her another couple of years before she left due to health reasons. I stayed with another woman that worked with her for about ten years until I moved to Irving in 2000 so she always did a good job. I've only had one great haircut since and unfortunately my circumstances resulted in another move so I never got to go back.

was about 12 years ago at one of my friend's wedding. There was a guy in his younger twenties whose hair stuck up about 8 inches and was colored black at the scalp, red in the middle, and yellow (not bleached) at the top. So here I am as a 40 year old holding back my laughter over the twenty year old with the wild hair, but I will give him some credit for wearing a nice suit that was styled appropriately for someone his age. I guess that the good thing is that he didn't have any visible tattoos or piercings if he ever decided to adopt a more conservative appearance.

I'm not jamming with anyone at the moment... Good time to do it. But I don't know, man. It would be a temporary thing. Few days max. But do I really wanna go to scalp? Prolly never gonna happen. But one can fantasize.....
