SPOILERs
Written by George R.R. Martin. Plot as read in wikipedia makes it sound like an early AI conundrum. The crew's mission was to go out in search of aliens. But, the plot changes entirely when the ship's computer falls in love with a main character on the ship and goes on a jealous streak? Is that right?
Well, from what I can tell, all the interesting characters died in the end of the first episode because of it. And, there are nine more episodes to go. So the question is, for those how are familiar with the story, where does it go from here?

(46,715 posts)I think that's the one where they introduce an actual alien contact.

(9,904 posts)AS I said before I will watch them all
BUT
the horror aspect takes away from the sci-fi IMHO
SPOILER BELOW
Captain's mother is the ship and its OS?
Feel they are using this to fill in gaps between the sci-fi portion of the show
If this is what an L1 can do I would HATE to see an L2-L? is capable
Or perhaps an older more mature one, unless all those are dead

(46,715 posts)First, if the mother was that controlling and volatile, why in the hell would anyone immortalize her by putting her into the OS? They had to know they would be flying in on Psychotic Airlines. Not impressed with this flaw.
Thale could very well be channeling her negativity. Also, is it a coinky dinky that Melantha looks similar to the mother?
I was relieved when they finally introduced the alien. I am guessing that it will grow into a human with altered DNA to contain a mission or message for the crew.

Like I know that the 2nd ep is tonight. Typical George R R Martin, everybody dies only this time it's at the beginning. But seriously, I enjoyed the first ep and am looking forward to find out more.

(46,715 posts)The Megamind character threw me off. Seriously, you bring in a character on board that can manipulate minds without telling the crew? And, seriously, if you can't control him among humans, where did you think he can control himself among aliens?
I get it. He has a two way power. He can get into your head and plant images, which is a great way to talk to aliens that don't understand languages. But, seriously, why didn't anyone think that aliens might have the same power? What if they could get into Megamind's brain and manipulate him?
Now, I don't know if that's the situation here, but, Megamind just turned me off. I hate confined spaceship stories that already have a major plot hole to deal with.
