That will scare out any animal that have taken shelter to soak up the engine warmth.

I am not sure if I remember the story exactly, but...one of my parents left to do some errands and heard a funny sound while driving. They took the car in to have it checked, and our cat had taken up residence under the hood.

I have seen it at leats twice a year at a dealership I worked at. Cats go in for warmth or just the cozy. And there are belts & fans spinning madly-it is very lucky that cat survived.

Rodents will do this also. A nice BMW convertable with about 18K on the Odo. The wiring was tasty for some reason & they made a nest-complete with stashed nuts. And chewed up the entire engine wire harness. That was a major ouch and I have no idea if insurance covered.

But yeah bang on the hood if there are cats in your area.

my brother in law called her one afternoon and asked her if she had seen the black yard cat lately and she looked out and said she didn't see it.
Brother in Law: "well, I went to Guthrie and got a haircut (8 miles) then down to Clarksville to get some tractor parts, (14 more miles) , made another stop in Clarksville, then drove over to Trenton (20 miles) to Mark's (our cousin). The cat got out at Mark's" This cat had ridden all over the south end of Todd Co KY and into Clarksville TN including all the stops Joe made, and hopped out at my cousin's house! Joe was driving a big ole farm pickup with high and wide front fenders. There are flat places where they can hole up and as long as they stay there they will be fine.

The cat went back home inside the truck cab; my brother in law was nervous the whole time that the cat was going to pee or poop inside his truck!
