The sand art is pretty neat, the guy claiming it is a hoax should go back to his gaming.

Second video confirmed that they were photos. Looks as if the artist is not showing the part where he projects someone elses photo onto the canvas before painting.
It's pretty easy to spot when an artist is painting from a photo. There is nothing wrong with that as long as the photo is their own.

The time it takes..... Wonder if he sprays on a fixative. I would think the sand would fall over time.

Traced or not, it is pretty time consuming and creative.
Edit: If it is a photo from a travel agency then it is a real place. Who is to say that the artist himself didn't take a trip and take his own picture?
