next* exhibit at Rancho Freako...

polydactyl chicken!

these young chickens were hatched by a broody hen that got nailed by a coyote about 3 days after the hatch so of course I ended up raising them on the porch (something I hate and why I don't do baby chicks anymore). that was around the first of October. they are transitioning to outdoors now, in a portapen and cardboard box, soon to go to the coop with the rest of the flock. the other day I was sitting and watching them and just then noticed the red one has an extra toe on each foot. there should be 3 forward and one back toe, she (I think it is a she) has two back facing toes on each foot. I have handled them all multiple times, moving them from here to there and never noticed the mutant. so much for my keen observational skills.

* current main exhibit is the new water buffalo! https://www.democraticunderground.com/10181154484

I couldn't inflict this disaster on paying guests!

I did finally get the falling apart ceiling in the bathroom fixed last spring, though the trim still sits at an angle against one wall awaiting installation. (that was about a 25 year project LOL)

Your animal and wildlife posts are wonderful. I get the feeling there would be lots of laughing.

I've got a few projects I've been working on for a while now. Can't rush inclination.
