beauty product goes out of stock and you cant find it anywhere because the company has stopped making it??? Mine is Midnight Blue Great Lash Mascara by Maybeline.
I swear ive the last tubes available in my area. As soon as I found out its been discontinued I drove all over to buy as many as I could. Went on line and found that MallWort had some and bought 5 more on line. I now have 10 tubes.
I have worn this midnight blue mascara since I first started wearing makeup. Love it, and now will have supplies until I die.

(7,366 posts)Unfortunately "guys" conjures up a image of a male-sort of like when "he" was the default pronoun.
I prefer"people" as in the German greeting of "leute"
But of course I do like to see men wearing mascara-I am too lazy to wear makeup myself but enjoy seeing people wear it

(40,575 posts)Avon stopped making my favorite lipstick, Sparkling Cashmere. I bought up as many tubes of it as I could find, too, which wasnt very many. I have never, ever, found another company that makes anything that approaches that color. I know how you feel!

(8,923 posts)I think of this as a phenomenon called "the MBAs strike again!" A company has been going along making a product a number of people like. Then they hire an MBA, and the MBA revamps the entire product line by making it very attractive to that part of the market that wants to have papayas in their shampoo, and the conditioner too, of course. So then, what used to be a line of three kinds of Breck (for dry, normal, and oily hair) turns into a row of eight shampoos with matching conditioners that promise to do anything you want to your hair, with payaya, and herbs, and everything but bacon, I think. And you can't find the kind you've been buying for twenty years. If that innocent little bottle still exists, it's been sunk by the fruit and flower salad, and you have to find something else. Once again, you've been deserted by the manufacturers. Product loyalty, my Aunt fanny--you can't be loyal to a manufacturer that deserted you.. Can't even find them. I used to use the midnight blue mascara too before I retired.
Enough with the Papayas! Bring Back Breck!

(76,695 posts)Buy the basic Dial. Dial bought Breck about 25 years ago. Because their basic brand was identical to the Breck you recall, they used the Breck name as more a boutique varietal.
This freed up the basic Dial product to be sold without them competing against themselves for the basic formula product.
Thought this might help ease your angst over losing your favorite shampoo.

(34,189 posts)Believe it or not, they carry a lot of personal care and beauty items, many of which are discontinued.
When Dial discontinued the only cheap unscented soap I could use, my husband spotted it at Big Lots and for months bought every bar they put on the shelves. I might have a lifetime supply - but I told him to check again and refill what I have used to make sure!

(34,286 posts)Fortunately, I wear black mascara and the Black Maybelline liquid liner.
I got into creme/liquid eyeshadows. Rimmel made a great one. Then it disappeared in 2016. So, I picked up Almay. Now they've d/c ed the Almay product. Creme shadows seem to be going away and powder on my crepey lids looks like I sustained major injuries!
So, I keep buying new things.........
I wonder if you could try mixing regular blue mascara with black mascara to get the same effect as Midnight Blue?
I'm always experimenting.

(2,343 posts)LineExact in Black/Brown. It was a liquid with a short, tapered brush. The brush length was perfect in that i could rest my hand on my cheek as I drew it on. It went on perfectly and was waterproof. Never bled or streaked.
Apparently I wasn't the only missing it...if you look at reviews of current Cover Girl liners, you'll see dozens of requests to bring this one back.
I did search all over the 'net, but the few I have are now so old that they work three times and then dry up. I've tried many others, different brands, but I can't find anything comparable.

(22,343 posts)There are numerous products--cosmetics, food, cleaning, fragrances!, etc., you name it, that gets discontinued. Then replaced with stuff no so hot. I get highly frustrated. You latch onto a favorite, then whoosh, gone. I don't get most of this thinking on the part of manufacturers.
Have a Happy! 🎉🎆

(9,707 posts)It worked great and my hair was beautiful with it - only non-permanent, easy to use color rinse on the market. They still have it in all the other colors, but not the reddish hue.
It used to cost about $10 for a bottle that would last months. I searched online and found only one bottle left on earth -- at $85, so reluctantly passed. Wish they'd bring it back. I've written but it's been a couple of years now, no luck.

(27,834 posts)She specifically used the Rose Beige shade. She was not, at all, flexible in her beauty routine, so nothing else would suffice.
I scoured through store after store after store. I was finally at the stage of ordering it, on line, when she stopped mentioning it.
She also had a specific shade of Clairol hair tint she used. It was the kind that washed out in 7 days. When they stopped making that, it was a stressful situation. She didn't easily accept that something she liked might not always be around. My aunt was a lovely woman, but VERY high maintenance, for someone in her 90's.

(56,829 posts)when I was young I liked maybeline comb on smear proof mascara, that apparently does not exist anymore, nor does much brown mascara at all. then there was a clear product I found once but no idea what and don't see anything like that when I remember to look. since I maybe only put it on once or twice a year it isn't a big deal...
the others are all hair products, can't even remember the names anymore as I finally gave up, went to grocery store stuff - pantene conditioners are the best even though I hate the scents they use

I took a pic of the Navy color tonight whilst shopping @Winco:

It was 1.29. I'm going to have a go and buy it the next time I need mascara. If you would like me to pick some up for you send me a DU mail - I think it's widely available at Dollar Trees? It was a deep blue, a bold navy, but nothing close to colbalt.

(11,175 posts)Aftershave helps soothe the skin, but I didn't want to put on any artificial aroma. Mennen used to make an unscented aftershave. When, at some point, I couldn't find it on the shelves, I even cared enough to write to the company, inquiring where it might be sold. I got back a nice letter, telling me that the product had been discontinued (and giving me a coupon for a discount on some other product). Apparently most guys were happy with scented aftershave. So much for the invisible hand.

(7,880 posts)slightly so you can't tell what it is -- and the companies never put a useful picture on the box -- so you get home and find out that you've purchased something that could absorb all of the liquid from a small pond when you needed something much more modest. (sorry if this is too much information, LOL!!)
Phentex
(16,709 posts)this was before Amazon so it was straight from the manufacturer. They weren't discontinuing the product but they had made what I considered to be significant changes to it. Like you said, they repackaged and all that. Well, I thought 880 would get me through all my years of menses. The company ended up refunding my money and said they could not fulfill the order. I guess enough people complained because it wasn't very long (maybe 6 months or so) when they brought the original product back but kept the new name. It was weird. They still make them to this day. And I was off by SO many years in my calculations that I'm still buying them - in advance, lol.

(10,104 posts)I call it Freddies Law of Consumer Products. If I really like something (food, deodorant, shampoo etc) they stop making it. Most recent thing was Colgate Max Clean Spearmint Blast. I hate strong peppermint toothpaste and that stuff was the best. Gone. But I found BOXES of it (at .99/tube!) at my local Ollies, where discontinued products go to die. So yes, check a place like that or Big Lots.
