Except mine is in my lungs. It's hard to breathe and the congestion is driving me crazy!

Hope we're healthy in time for the New Year!

My head is so congested, it feels like a balloon. Can’t breathe.

Well, we can be miserable together, PJMcK!!

Mucinex (pills) is my new friend. Once it kicks in, I can breathe a little. I hate being sick!

Only one thing makes me truly miserable, Ohiogal, and it ain't our illnesses. It's the asshole squatting in our White House.

Try to get some sleep, friend.

Being sick ... and being even more sick of that mean, destructive asshole you spoke of.

Hopefully things will be looking up for all of us very soon!

A year ago today I started feeling like crap which quickly became The Flu and I was sick almost the whole month of January - one week feeling like I was hit by a truck and the next 3 weeks with a lingering cough and weakness. Hope it’s just a cold for you.

My husband just had this and was nice enough to share it with me...lol. He was better in about a week, so if I’ve got the same thing, I have another 4-5 days to go.

I’m sorry that flu knocked you down so hard. What a way to start the new year, as PJ said. Glad you survived it and let’s hope we also outlast that miserable cretin in the White House, too,

Eat as much as you can of softish (is that a word?) foods - soup, pudding, sherbet, even popsicles. Drink LOTS of liquids.

My mom had a saying that a treated head cold would last a week and an untreated one 7 days. I truly feel for you, I hate them myself.

Sending

8. I am an internet doctor,

so it is best to disregard my advice.

When I worked on the road and got sick and couldn't miss work, this is what I did. I bought a bottle of green (must be green) Nyquil, unscrewed the dispensing cap and threw it away, drank approximately 1/2 the bottle then got under the covers. By morning I had sweated out my cold and ready to go to work.

p/s I've been up all night tonight with my hiatal hernia acting up. Any internet doctors know anything about hiatal hernias?

Any particular reason for the green?

It seems as though there’s not much you can do to hasten a cold’s departure, is there, akraven?

I think I have drunk enough tea today to last me a lifetime. And I’m a morning coffee lover, except when I have a cold, then I crave tea. Decaf, of course.

so much?
But I'm off of the prescribed Norco, too dangerous, gonna make it on Tylenol or bust!
As much as this hurts, it's better than any other day in the last 2 years when I was crippled by the bad hip PLUS the ever burning fire of meralgia paresthetica in the same thigh...onward and upward from here!

That must be dreadful

Good luck with Tylenol! My sister’s 90 year old plus mother-in-law had two hip replacements after she turned 80 and did quite well both times.

Some tea w/ rum and honey would probably also do the trick. Anything that will knock you out for a long time usually does the trick for me. I find that not being able to sleep, tossing and turning usually seems to prolong it, but if I am out for a while, I usually feel better faster.

Otherwise I have no hope of staying awake until midnight. I'll go to be early, wake up, and it'll be 2019 already. I'll have missed the whole thing.

Unless my neighbors are kind enough to wake me with firecrackers and gunshots at midnight.

Feel best.
