(9,534 posts)Not sure when they're coming up next, but there was a rule change a few years back. You have to be 15 and a half to go to the Olympics. So Tara Lipinkski will forever be the youngest US figure skating Olympic champion.
The change was because too many young kids were being pushed to do extreme and repetitive jumps early, and there were too many injuries. Good rule, protecting kids, but sucks for the occasional prodigy who has to wait a couple more years for a chance at the Olympics.
