Kyle MacLachlan to Timothee Chalamet: "Go easy on the spice."

Kyle MacLachlan is famous for his many roles in iconic films and TV series over the years, from Desperate Housewives and Sex and the City to Twin Peaks and Portlandia.

The actor is, of course, also known for playing Paul Atreides in the 1984 film Dune, which is now being remade with Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Stellan Skarsgard, and Charlotte Rampling.

the De Laurentiis production in 1984 was pretty bad. There were some great actors but the story line was lacking. Hard to compress at 400+ page book into a two hour movie.

There was a mini-series in 2000 that was 4.25 hours. I thought this a much better production and was long enough to give justice to book.

If the new movie is again only around 2 hours it will not be good or true to the book....it simply can't....but then they might take such liberties with the storyline that it is not really recognizable to the original.

The plan is to split it into two movies. (Sort of like the current version of Stephen King's IT.)

until they get it right lol.

But I don't think it will ever be right unless they do a mini series - or a maxi series. I'd like them to do all the books. They could be on TV for decades!
