On my way to work earlier this week, I came across this bunny who would not move from the middle of the road. When I would nudge him with my foot, he would hop a fraction of an inch and then stop. As I was nudging him out of the middle of the road, a woman stopped and got out of her car. She picked the bunny right up and, while it appeared to be uninjured, it acted like a drugged kitten. She said she would take it to the animal hospital and she took it with her in her car.
What would make a bunny act this way?

If you have the critter ask for animal control help and in the mean time put it in a warm dark quiet place and hope for the best.
Others will suggest all of the above plus holding and stroking it.
It may live, more likely that it will not.
Bunnies, easily shocked into irreversible sad death, IMHE.
So sad.
It was amazing to get so close to it, but it just wasn't right. I'm so glad the woman stopped to take him to the hospital, but it sounds like it probably wasn't a good outcome.

(68,644 posts)I've had this odd tendency to come across birds and bunnies, but bird survival has, for me, been more likely to occur than bunnies, whose shock too often turns into cooler body temperatures and eternal stillness.

I hope the poor little guy's okay. He/she looks healthy otherwise.
How are you?
I actually wondered the same thing.
The woman told me what animal hospital she was taking it to, so I may call them on Monday to follow up.

(18,497 posts)Dangerous because kids will go right up to it thinking it's a tame/friendly bunny.
It could also have been fermented berries.
